Dr. Almas was born and raised on the Hamilton Mountain. He holds an honours degree in Bio-Chemistry from McMaster University, Hamilton Ontario. Following his studies at McMaster, Dr. Almas worked for the department of medicine at McMaster University conducting research on spinal cord injuries. He then left his career in research to pursue chiropractic. Although seven years of post secondary education is required to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, he completed an additional year in related studies. As a result, he has received certification in the fields of custom orthotic fitting and computerized gait analysis. These certificates authorize Dr. Almas to diagnose and correct abnormal foot function and abnormal walking patterns. Using a computerized gait analysis he is able to determine whether or not your health concerns are related to your feet or the way you walk.
Although all doctors take courses, few teach them. Dr. Almas taught future chiropractors for three years, how to use the Activator ™ Adjusting Instrument in order to implement Nudge Technology and other chiropractic methods. At the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, the only accredited english speaking chiropractic college in Canada, Dr. Almas received an Award for the Best New Technique elective course.
In his career Dr. Almas has successfully treated hundreds of patients with more than 10,000 treatments to his credit, (and counting). He has achieved, “Advanced Proficiency Rating”, the highest level of training attainable for the use of an Activator ™ Adjusting Instrument. Dr. Almas has additional training in the field of sports injury and training. He has received the designation as a certified strength and conditioning specialist, (CSCS). Dr. Almas uses a combined approach to enhance his patients health and believes strongly that patients should be given a choice of treatment methods and that chiropractors ought to at least offer the less invasive techniques first.
Dr. Almas is an Independent Medical/Rehabilitation Evaluator. He is qualified to perform Independent Medical/Rehab Evaluations, In Home Evaluations, Worksite Evaluations and Functional Ability Evaluations. He is an active medical/rehab consultant for personal injury lawyers, automotive insurance companies, various assessment centres and numerous employers. In some cases, these matters go to court and if so; Dr. Almas is often called as an expert witness.
